Purpose This study aimed to explore the effects of Baoyuan Yangxin Formula combined with acupuncture on angina symptoms and electrocardiographic myocardial ischemia indicators in patients with chest bi syndrome and heart pain of qi–yin deficiency with blood stasis. Methods A total of 98 patients who had chest bi syndrome and heart pain (qi–yin deficiency with blood stasis) treated during the periods of February 2021 to February 2022 were selected as the research objects, and by applying the random number table, we divided these patients into the control group which received acupuncture combined with conventional Western medicine treatment and the observation group which received Baoyuan Yangxin Formula combined therapy based on the control group. Between the two groups, we compared the electrocardiographic efficacy, clinical efficacy, and traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores before and after the treatment. The occurrence of angina pectoris, electrocardiographic indicators, and hemodynamic indicators before and after the treatment were statistically analyzed between the two groups. Results Compared with the control group, the treatment's total effective rate in the observation group was higher ( P < 0.05); and in both groups, TCM syndrome scores were significantly improved after the treatment. In comparison with those in the control group, the scores of chest tightness, chest pain, restlessness with insomnia, fatigue, shortness of breath, and spontaneous sweating in the observation group were lower ( P < 0.05); after treatment, the visual analog scale (VAS) score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, the frequency of angina attacks was less than that in the control group, and the duration was shorter than that in the control group ( P < 0.05). Compared with the control group, the electrocardiographic efficacy in the observation group was better, and T-wave improvement after treatment was superior ( P < 0.05). In the observation group, whole blood viscosity and plasma viscosity after treatment, as well as the fibrinogen levels, were lower than those in the control group ( P < 0.05). Conclusion The integration of Baoyuan Yangxin Formula with acupuncture demonstrates a synergistic effect in managing chest bi syndrome and heart pain due to qi–yin deficiency with blood stasis. This combined approach not only significantly alleviates angina symptoms and improves electrocardiographic markers of myocardial ischemia but also positively influences hemodynamic parameters. These findings support its potential as a complementary therapeutic strategy in clinical practice, offering a holistic option that addresses both symptomatic relief and underlying pathological mechanisms.
