Verified statistics show significant annual food waste leads to a substantial loss of energy and nutrients. One creative option to recover some energy and nutrients initially used for food production is to use food waste as feedstock in supply networks. Given the significance of the problem and the uncertainty concept in the control of food waste, a unique approach based on fuzzy variables and linear programming using the area method is proposed here. The Area Method (AM) is used to solve the Fully Fuzzy Linear Programming (FFLP) problem after it has been converted to a Single-Objective Linear Programming (SOLP) problem. In the end, a transportation logistic network analysis that takes recycling and inspection facilities into account is carried out as a case study. According to the results, the TFN areas for the new, Kumar and Ezzati techniques are, in that order, 90.87, 95.74 and 111.6. The results of the provided technique perform better than those of Ezzati’s study and Kumar’s investigation, respectively, when considering the newly proposed definitions. The main achievement of the suggested approach is the reduction of costs related to the recycling process in the food business; it can also be extended to cover a large supply chain.
