The purpose of the study is to examine the current scientific, educational, and methodological support of the sport of 'Practical Shooting'. Research methods: analysis of existing materials on practical and target shooting, historical, and comparative research methods. Research results and conclusions. It has been identified that the published materials on practical shooting do not fully meet the demand for its support. This need is intensified by the rapid development of the sport both globally and in Russia, changes in the rules of practical shooting, including safety regulations, the diversity and evolution of weapons, their modifications, equipment, gear, requirements for the design and structure of exercises, the shortage of qualified trainers, and the demand for practical shooting skills among law enforcement and security personnel. The publication of systematic, scientifically grounded, and practice-oriented manuals will help address this gap, fully develop the learner’s abilities with minimal resources, ensure a higher level of safety, and prevent delays in the development of this sport in Russia.
