Abstract: A project implemented with preservice early childhood educators in Taiwan introduced hopscotch games from multiple countries. In a curriculum development course, teams of university students learned how to play different versions of hopscotch, then taught their peers through active participation. The project emphasized the many health and educational benefits of playing hopscotch for children in the early childhood years. Reflective journaling by the university students documented their learning and underlined cultural awareness gained through traditional children's games. Applications in the field included the introduction of hopscotch games to elementary-aged Indigenous children in Taiwan.
