Use of parallel fluorescent confocal microscopy for detection of prostatic adenocarcinoma.
Key Points
The aim is to enhance the training of pathologists in using fluorescent confocal microscopy for evaluating surgical margins in prostate cancer surgeries.
Develop an image atlas of prostatic adenocarcinoma cases
Present diagnostic criteria for identifying cancer in surgical margins
Train pathologists using the developed resources
Improved proficiency in using fluorescent confocal microscopy by pathologists
Faster intraoperative evaluations during radical prostatectomy
More accurate assessment of surgical margins compared to traditional methods
Abstract
The image atlas and the diagnostic criteria presented in this study will help train pathologists to proficiently use FCM for rapid intraoperative evaluation of surgical margins during radical prostatectomy.
