Academic resilience is a crucial construct in understanding the students’ adaption and performance despite academic challenges. The present study investigates academic resilience among undergraduate students in relation to their achievement motivation. The primary objective is to compare the mean score of academic resilience and achievement motivation among undergraduate students on the basis of gender and academic discipline. The study also explores the nature of the relationship between these two variables. The study sample drawn from the science and arts academic disciplines using a purposive sampling technique. It comprises a total of 160 undergraduate students, evenly balanced by gender, with equal representation from the arts and science disciplines. The Academic Resilience scale developed & standardised by Dr. Megha D’souza & Dr. Shefali Pandya and Achievement Motivation scale developed & standardised by Prof. Pratibha Deo & Dr. Asha Mohan have been used for data collection. The data have been analysed by appropriate statistical techniques- mean, standard error (SE) skewness (SK), kurtosis (KU), standard deviation (S.D.), t-test and correlation (r). The findings of the study revealed significant gender and academic discipline differences on academic resilience scale among undergraduate students. While, no significant gender and academic discipline differences found on achievement motivation scale among undergraduate students. Furthermore, the variables academic resilience and achievement motivation are positively correlated to each other, indicating that students with higher levels of achievement motivation tend to exhibit higher academic resilience.
