The study aims to investigate the impact of maternal probiotic supplementation on T-cell populations in infants and its relation to atopic dermatitis prevention.
Observed T-cell populations in infants at 3 months after maternal probiotic supplementation.
Focused on the percentage of Th22 cells between probiotics and control groups.
Reduced percentage of Th22 cells in the probiotics group at 3 months.
Effect did not appear earlier or persist, suggesting limited role in preventing atopic dermatitis.
Abstract
We previously observed reduced Th22 percentage in the probiotics group at 3 months. However, since the effect was not seen earlier and did not last, it may not be the main reason for AD prevention.
