This article examines the energy transition pathway in Asia-Pacific nations. Given the region’s financial and technological constraints, alongside the rising trend in natural gas consumption, we hypothesise that natural gas could serve as an ideal candidate during the transition towards carbon neutrality. Using data from 14 Asia-Pacific economies over the past 30 years, the study demonstrates that natural gas consumption has a positive impact on economic output. Therefore, these economies may strengthen natural gas markets while simultaneously adopting alternatives to facilitate the transition towards green growth.
