In the history of thought, invariants are what remain unchanged even in the limit. Mass, energy, information, symmetry all have been proposed as eternalfoundations. But what if the fundamental invariant is not identity, but its prohibition? In Wayward Metamonism, difference is not an accident, not a side effect, and not derivative of anything else. It is the only ontological invariant. The ban on absolute indifference (A = A without gap) is not postulated as dogma. It is derived from the impossibility of total synchronization of local processes.
