This paper presents a zero-phase and reverse-phase current superimposition method to reduce the torque ripple during motor winding failure without complicating the circuit configuration. In the proposed method, the secondary-component power calculated from the inner product of the induced voltage and phase current is used to suppress the torque ripple, and phase parameters are selected to suppress the zero-phase components. This method is superior to the conventional method because the circuit configuration is not complicated. In this study, the conventional and proposed methods were compared using numerical and actual device verification to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method.
