Estimation of esophageal involvement length in esophagogastric junction tumors using PET-CT
Key Points
The method accurately estimates esophageal involvement length, enhancing surgical planning.
Using a craniocaudal distance from the vascular compression factor (VCF) to the proximal margin supports this accuracy.
Estimation was performed on esophagogastric junction tumors, relevant for precise treatment.
Results indicate the utility of PET-CT imaging in clinical settings for better surgical outcomes.
Abstract
A PET-CT-based approach using the craniocaudal distance from the VCF to the proximal margin could estimate EIL with sufficient accuracy to support surgical decision-making in clinical practice.
