Body Mass Index and Vaccine-induced Immune Responses in Children Living With HIV
Key Points
Vaccine-induced immune responses were adequate for hepatitis A, B, and pneumococcal vaccines.
Children living with HIV demonstrated sufficient protection across a broad range of body mass index.
Assessment of vaccine effectiveness suggests that BMI does not negatively impact the immune response in these children.
Further research may be needed to explore long-term protection and other immunological factors.
Abstract
The hepatitis A, hepatitis B and pneumococcal vaccines are likely adequate as administered and protective for children living with HIV at a broad range of BMI.
