The use of mobile phones and other devices has become a common part of everyday life. In traffic, there is a significant increase in traffic violations caused by mobile phone use while driving. This topic is frequently discussed, but the use of mobile phones by vulnerable road users, specifically pedestrians, is often overlooked. Pedestrians are the most vulnerable group of road users. In urban areas, there is an increased risk of collision between vehicles and pedestrians, especially due to the high frequency of pedestrians. This study will focus on distracting elements that pedestrians use when entering the roadway, such as mobile phones and headphones. The survey was conducted at 4 pedestrian crossings in 2 Slovak cities. During the survey, it was found that a high percentage of pedestrians do not fully pay attention to the traffic situation and use electronic devices that distract their focus on traffic.
