Major global airports are implementing airline incentive schemes as a means of marketing and stimulating strategic routes. Major European airports offer varying incentives depending on flight distance, while airports in the Americas and Asia offer incentives to airlines launching new routes and arriving and departing during off-peak hours to encourage route diversification. Therefore, this study compares and analyzes airline incentive schemes implemented at major international airports, identifies their strengths and weaknesses and proposes policy implications that could be utilized to improve Incheon International Airport
