Introduction: Faculty of Medicine, Thammasat university has defined the research strategies to be in line with the strategic plan of the university. Even though the faculty has continuously published research works but still there has been a lack of information collection in term of the linkage between health research priorities and the country strategic plan. This study played a role in planning the future research at the institutional level. The purpose of this study were (1) to study the quantity and quality of research under the organizational structure and (2) to rank the achievement of the research output of the faculty of Medicine at national and international level. Method: This study was done by reviewing the amount of research works and budget resources information which was available at the Division of Research Affairs of the faculty together with the university records. The study found a number of 429 research works from 1999 to 2011. The quality of the research works was explored from the national and international database. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics. Result: It was found that most main researchers were female, 33.8 % were lecturers and most of them and 56.9 % worked in the clinical sciences departments. About 50.1 % of the research works were supported by the faculty funding. The largest number of works appeared in the year 2008. According to health research, most research works, 48.7 %, were classified in dimension no. 2 of health problems, followed by dimension no.1 of the disease category (25.9%). A number of 24.0 % of works were published at national level, 18.4 % were at international level, and 57.6 % were not published. Discussion and Conclusion: The research quality and organizational structure classified by the departments of the researchers were analyzed by the means of research publication. It revealed that the quantity and quality were high in those research works which were done by the clinical sciences departments. บทคัดย่อบทนำ: คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ได้กำหนดประเด็นยุทธศาสตร์ ด้านการวิจัย ให้สอดคล้องกับมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ โดยมีผลงานวิจัยเผยแพร่สู่สังคมอยู่เป็นระยะๆ แต่ยังขาดการรวบรวมข้อมูลตามลำดับความสำคัญของงานวิจัยด้านสุขภาพในแง่ของการเชื่อมโยงแผนกลยุทธ์ของประเทศ งานวิจัยเรื่องนี้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการวางแผนการวิจัยระดับองค์กรในอนาคต โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์ คือ ๑) เพื่อศึกษาปริมาณและคุณภาพของงานวิจัยภายใต้โครงสร้างบุคลากร ๒) เพื่อจัดอันดับความสามารถผลงานวิจัยของคณะแพทยศาสตร์ ระดับชาติและระดับนานาชาติวิธีการศึกษา: ศึกษาข้อมูลจากจำนวนงานวิจัยและงบประมาณที่เป็นข้อมูลเอกสารของฝ่ายวิจัย คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ และข้อมูลเอกสารของมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ จำนวนโครงการวิจัยรวม ๔๒๙ เรื่อง ระหว่าง พ.ศ. ๒๕๔๒ จนถึง พ.ศ. ๒๕๕๔ และสืบค้นคุณภาพงานวิจัยจากฐานข้อมูลวิจัยทั้งในประเทศและต่างประเทศ ใช้สถิติเชิงพรรณนาในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ผลการศึกษา: ผู้วิจัยหลักเป็นเพศหญิงมากกว่าเพศชาย มีตำแหน่งอาจารย์ คิดเป็นร้อยละ ๓๓.๘ สังกัดสถานวิทยาศาสตร์คลินิกมากที่สุด คิดเป็นร้อยละ ๕๖.๙ โครงการวิจัยที่ได้รับการสนับสนุนทุนจากภายในคณะแพทยศาสตร์ คิดเป็นร้อยละ ๕๐.๑ ปีงบประมาณที่มีโครงการวิจัยมากที่สุด คือ พ.ศ. ๒๕๕๑ งานวิจัยที่จัดอยู่ในกลุ่มวิจัยสุขภาพมิติที่ ๒ คือ กลุ่มปัญหาสุขภาพ มีการทำวิจัยมากที่สุด คิดเป็นร้อยละ ๔๘.๗ รองลงมา คือ มิติที่ ๑ กลุ่มโรคอวัยวะ คิดเป็นร้อยละ ๒๕.๙ ผลงานตีพิมพ์ระดับชาติ คิดเป็นร้อยละ ๒๔.๐ ผลงานตีพิมพ์ระดับนานาชาติ คิดเป็นร้อยละ ๑๘.๔ และผลงานวิจัยที่ไม่ได้ตีพิมพ์ คิดเป็นร้อยละ ๕๗.๖ วิจารณ์ และสรุปผลการศึกษา: จากการวิเคราะห์คุณภาพงานวิจัย และโครงสร้างบุคลากร จำแนกตามหน่วยงานที่สังกัดและระดับคุณภาพผลงานวิจัย โดยใช้เกณฑ์การเผยแพร่ของผลงานวิจัย พบว่า ทั้งด้านปริมาณผลงานวิจัยและระดับคุณภาพของงานวิจัย เป็นผลงานของสถานวิทยาศาสตร์คลินิก ซึ่งอยู่ในระดับสูง
