Learning English as foreign language is sometimes limited to learning grammatical rules and vocabulary items out of context, or in non-authentic situations. That may seem unavoidable to some extent when English is learned in a country where it is not the main language of communication. However, this method of teaching English as a foreign language is outdated and not in tune with the demands of our globalised world and work environment. Project-Based Language Learning (PBLL) is a method that fosters good communication skills, effective collaboration, creativity and critical thinking, which constitute the four Cs of 21st century skills. Those skills are desired by employers in the modern workplace and thus, PBLL is a teaching method that can equip foreign language learners with the skills they need when they leave school or university.
