A new species Xanthopimpla zherikhini sp. nov. (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae, Pimplinae) is described from Late Eocene Baltic amber. The finding indicates a wider geographical distribution than in modern times for the recent genus Xanthopimpla in the territories corresponding to the modern Palaearctic zoogeographic region. The extremely large size of the specimen suggests that its preservation is an atypical taphonomic phenomenon for amber. The specimen described is the first find of the genus Xanthopimpla in Baltic amber.
