Cybersecurity has emerged as a critical concern as the maritime industry adopts advanced digital technologies and transitions toward autonomous operations. This study explores the factors influencing cybersecurity risk and autonomous shipping awareness among maritime professionals. Using data from a survey of 130 professionals, this study reveals that professionals with a degree of higher cybersecurity awareness are more likely to be aware of autonomous shipping, and vice versa. Further, international exposure is positively associated with this dual awareness. These findings highlight the importance of integrating cybersecurity and autonomous shipping education within maritime education and training. Industry stakeholders and policymakers should facilitate international training and exchange programs to enhance safety in the maritime transport sector.
