The paper aims at presenting example of evidence-based capacity building for gender-sensitive and victim-centred approach to sexual violence (SV) at faculties in Serbia. In order to strengthen capacities of university staff and students for adequate and responsive approach to and treatment of SV victims, Victimology Society of Serbia designed and piloted ‘first response’ training at six faculties. Training design and its delivery were informed by the results of the online victimisation survey on SV against students at faculties in Serbia, conducted in 2021. Survey results and training evaluation set a basis for influencing changes to policies and care pathways at selected faculties in order to ensure recognition, support and protection of SV victims. The paper starts with a brief presentation of the key survey findings, proceeds with experiences and lessons learnt in training creating and delivery and concludes with main results of development of innovative mechanisms of victim support at faculties.
