The subject of scientific research is the little-studied novel by the German writer A. Bevius "Henrietta, or the Hussar Abduction. Adventures that took place during the recent last war between the Prussians and the Caesars" (1782) as the supposed basis of the invariant structure of the plot situation "abduction of the heroine" for subsequent works of the sentimentalist tradition in Russian literature of the XIX century. The purpose of the study is to identify, based on common features, the key elements of the invariant structure of the plot situation "abduction of the heroine", to indicate a number of interrelated situations that form a certain set of variations. The theoretical basis was the work of T. V. Zueva, K. E. Korepova, A. S. Lyzlova, V. Ya Propp, K. Frumkin, devoted to the study of various aspects of the plot situation "the abduction of the heroine". The following research methods are used to analyze the invariant structure of the plot situation: structural-semantic, functional-typological, intertextual. Many literary studies devoted to the consideration of the features of plot structure in Russian classical literature note its appeal to the plot models of Western European literature. Thus, the research of the Western European tradition will allow us to further identify the corpus of texts of Russian classical literature in which the plot situation "abduction of the heroine" is presented, systematize its variations, study the interrelationships with other plot situations and analyze its functions in the plot of the whole work. The scientific novelty of the study consists in an attempt to present the invariant structure of the plot situation "abduction of the heroine" by referring to an earlier sample of Western European literature. The analysis of the invariant structure allows us to identify its key elements, to form a number of interrelated situations, which subsequently transformed into different variations in Russian literature.
