Abstract: This article argues that noble childcare in the sixteenth century cannot be understood if wet nurses are framed solely as hired labour or economic exchange. Drawing on the intimate correspondence of Estefanía de Requesens to her mother Hipólita Roís de Liori (1530–1540), it shows that delegated breastfeeding operated as a key form of emotional mediation within a female-run micropolitics of the household. Crucially, the grandmother appears not as a distant adviser but as a legitimising sovereignty of care. The article proposes a shift from an assistential history of wet nursing to a relational history of affect, in which domestic love become constitutive for the survival and honour of the noble household. A partir del epistolario íntimo de Estefanía de Requesens dirigido a su madre Hipólita Roís de Liori (1530–1540), se argumenta que la lactancia delegada funcionó como una mediación emocional decisiva dentro de una política doméstica femenina. El texto demuestra, además, que la abuela es una soberanía legitimadora del cuidado. En conjunto, se propone desplazar la historiografía desde una historia asistencial de nodrizas hacia una historia relacional del afecto, en la que madre, ama y abuela articulan el amor doméstico indispensable para la supervivencia y el honor familiar.
