Since Shanghai first piloted the seven-year secondary vocational education - applied undergraduate education connection program (seven-year vocational education program) in 2014, English teaching for these students has faced new challenges and requirements. This study made an effective attempt to use authentic assessment in the English classroom of the seven-year program to improve students’ English learning motivation and their listening and speaking skills. It aims to introduce the theory of authentic assessment and its specific application and related considerations in the English classroom of the seven-year vocational education program.
