ABSTRACT The implementation of multiple microgrids can enhance energy efficiency by sharing distributed energy resources. This paper proposes a joint electricity and carbon sharing strategy for multiple microgrids in conjunction with a distributionally robust optimisation approach to address uncertainties. First, the joint sharing of electricity and carbon among multiple microgrids is facilitated by implementing a cooperative game approach. Second, a distributionally robust optimisation model is established to accommodate uncertain fluctuations in renewable energy outputs within the microgrids. Third, profits are distributed fairly among the coordinated microgrids by applying a generalised Nash bargaining theory framework to quantify the electricity and carbon contributions of each microgrid uniformly. Finally, the economic and low‐carbon performances of the proposed joint electricity and carbon sharing method, along with the superiority of the distributionally robust optimisation approach, are demonstrated via numerical computations conducted for a realistic assembly of microgrids.
