ABSTRACT In the era of COP28, most of the attention has been given to the effect of green finance on environmental sustainability. There is still a lack of evidence concerning the influencing factors of green finance while considering food production, water productivity, and agricultural production as a result of the increasing global population. This research investigated the influence of the abovementioned variables, along with the environmental tax and environmental technologies, on the green finance of the G7 economies. For the period from 1990 to 2020, this research uses the second‐generation cointegration test and finds a significant long‐run association between variables. As a result of the nonlinear data distribution, this investigation uses the moment's quantile regression and concludes that food production, environmental tax, and environmental technologies are the principal significant determinants of green finance in the region. On the other hand, this research revealed that water productivity and agricultural production significantly but adversely influenced green finance in the selected economies. The robustness of the findings is also tested via a series of parametric approaches. This research recommends supplementary investment in ecological research and development, appropriate agriculture and water management to enhance its contribution to green finance.
