Abstract Foreign bodies (FBs) in the urinary bladder are uncommon and often present with varied and misleading symptoms leading to serious complications. It is very difficult to introduce long and flexible FBs into male urinary bladder due to the peculiar anatomy of the urethra and when inserted they may remain undetected for years and lead to recurrent lower urinary tract symptoms, infections, fistula formation or bladder calculi. We report the two unusual cases of very long flexible FBs (nylon threads) introduced into the urinary bladder of men presenting with delayed complications, managed in our centre.
