This paper uses the method of Semantic Archaeology to reconstruct the connection between the Proto-Germanic roots *fello- (skin) and *fōljan- (feel). The study is based on the fact that 'skin' was the original material for a 'film', and its primary nature was defined by the sensory function of touch. The research identifies the shared origin of these concepts as a single material and functional reality.
