Photocatalytic Air Purification Hygroscopic periodic acid coated on WO3 creates an in situ water layer over WO3 surface, forming a gas-liquid-solid triphasic photocatalytic system. Then, hydrophilic gaseous pollutant like n-propylamine is rapidly dissolved in the water layer, being highly concentrated and complexed with periodic acid within the water layer. This alters the photocatalytic degradation pathway, rapidly mineralizing n-propylamine to CO2. This unique photocatalytic system demonstrates high efficiency and selectivity in purifying amine-contaminated air.
