Humanists in Olomouc in the Late Fifteenth and First Half of the Sixteenth Century and Their Influence on Progressive Early Renaissance Architectural Sculpture in Moravia

This article focuses on the relationship between the Olomouc humanists and the progressive early Renaissance architectural sculpture on the buildings they commissioned in Moravia in the first half of the sixteenth century. Using the example of a few selected patrons of architecture from among the Olomouc humanists, it will be shown that in many cases their architectural sculpture was the most progressive in Moravia. The predilection of these patrons for the then modern humanism was thus logically reflected in the early Renaissance architectural sculpture. The article will also mention the intensive contact of the Olomouc humanists with the humanists especially in Vienna and Wrocław, because the humanists there were also among the pioneers of early Renaissance architectural decoration.
