The Paton System describes a structural architecture in which systems become distinguishable, interact under constraints, and persist only when admissibility conditions are satisfied. Within this architecture, Tier-4 represents the observation datum: the layer where systems become visible, interpretable, and expressible through human knowledge frameworks. This note clarifies the epistemic role of Tier-4 as a compression interface. From this position, scientific knowledge expands outward into domain-specific interpretations such as physics, biology, engineering, and artificial intelligence. In contrast, both deeper structural layers and higher-order system possibilities compress toward infinite possibility limits beyond direct observation. The framework therefore acts as a structurally solid yet interpretively fluid architecture, allowing finite human knowledge to translate infinite structural possibility into formal logical language.
Andrew John Paton (Wed,) studied this question.
