This paper presents some characteristics of Mexico’s forest resources, highlighting forests, as well as the functions and services they provide to ensure economic, ecological, and social balance. It also presents the different methodologies that have been implemented in forest management to move from a traditional approach to a multipurpose one. Finally, the application of these methodologies is presented, and general conclusions are drawn.
