Background: Dentin hypersensitivity is frequently observed in clinical dental settings and is typically managed by decreasing dentinal permeability and minimizing fluid movement within the tubules. Aim: The aim of the study is to evaluate the shear bond strength of restorative composite to dentin treated with different desensitizing agents and self-etch bonding agent bonded using universal bonding agent. Materials and Methods: The teeth were selected. The Occlusal surfaces of selected 30 teeth were ground to expose a flat surface of dentin. They were embedded in cold cure resin blocks with 4 groups Untreated Dentin, Gluma Desensitizer, Embrace Varnish and 6 th Gen bonding agent. Results: In this study there was statistically significant differences between the groups and the null hypothesis was rejected. The lowest bond strength was for dentin treated with Embrace Varnish group i.e., Group 3 and the highest bond strength was for dentin treated with self-etch bonding agent i.e., Group 4. Conclusion: The shear bond strength varies with different desensitizing treatments. The order of SBS in this study was sixth generation bonding agent > Gluma desensitizer > untreated dentin > Embrace Varnish. Furthermore studies have to be conducted to improve bond strength when desensitizing treatments are done.
