In 2024, 40.8 million people were living with HIV, with 1.3 million new infections and 630,000 deaths. Despite access to antiretroviral therapy, cases with CD4 60 years (23.1%). Respiratory causes accounted for 6.1% of deaths; among these, 57.1% occurred in those aged 41–60 years, 28.6% in > 60 years, and 14.3% in 21–40 years. Hepatic causes represented 4.3% of total deaths, occurring in ages 21–40 years (40%) and 41–60 years (60%). AIDS remains the main cause of death, but chronic conditions are increasingly relevant, especially among older individuals.
