Aiming at the vertical abnormal vibration problem of a new type of rail vehicle bogie frame, through line test and theoretical analysis, it is revealed that the root cause is the poor transmission relationship of primary suspension system. The vehicle vibration model considering the viscous constitutive of the damper is established. The virtual excitation method is used to numerically analyze the system response under the random irregularity excitation of the track, and the optimal damping value of the primary vertical damper is determined. Furthermore, the optimal damping ratio design method of generalized bogie system is proposed by analytical derivation, and the optimal damping ratio is 0.285, which is consistent with the result of random response analysis and numerical simulation results. Finally, the line test shows that the RMS value of the vertical vibration acceleration of the optimized frame is reduced by 47 %, and the vibration energy of the axle box-frame is significantly attenuated, which effectively suppresses the abnormal vibration. This study provides a theoretical basis and engineering reference for the vibration transmission optimization and damping parameter fast matching of rail vehicle bogies.
