Abstract ‘TN21‐4659’ (Reg. no. CV‐569, PI 709002) is a soybean Glycine max (L.) Merr. germplasm with exceptional resistance to HgTypes 1.2.5.7 and 2.5.7 soybean cyst nematode (SCN; Heterodera Glycines Ichinohe). The line is a conventional, nongenetically modified, early‐maturity V, relative maturity 5.1 soybean. TN21‐4659 was one of 263 selected F 4 plants derived from the hybridization of ‘DA10X30‐09F’ and ‘TN15‐4011’. From 2021 to 2024, TN21‐4659 was evaluated in four internal variety trials conducted at three locations across Tennessee, as well as in two USDA variety trials at 8 and 14 locations, respectively. In 2023, TN21‐4659 was entered into the USDA Southern Uniform Preliminary Group IV Late Test, a replicated field trial conducted at eight locations across the southern United States, where it ranked fifth in yield among the 27 submitted lines. In the 2024 USDA Southern Uniform Group V Test, the yield of TN21‐4659 was not significantly different from that of the commercial checks. TN21‐4659 has purple flowers, tawny pubescence, and a smooth yellow seed coat. The seed weight is ∼12.3 g 100 seeds −1 . Resistance to SCN HgType 1.2.5.7 is rare in commercially available soybean cultivars. It is difficult to breed against HgType 1.2.5.7 due to its virulence to most commercial cultivars. Overall, TN21‐4659 provides exceptional yield potential with resistance to multiple HgTypes of SCN, making it an excellent germplasm for breeding programs.
