Based on new molecular data, two new species are incorporated into the genus Paradiscina. A detailed description of P. melaleuca, the type of the genus, is provided, along with descriptions and illustrations of P. donadinii comb. nov., a Mediterranean taxon characterized by globose ascospores, and P. californica, a new species distinguished by its small size and warted ascospores. A phylogeny based on the ITS2 region is presented, and the systematics of the genus are briefly discussed. Finally, a key to Paradiscina is provided.
