ABSTRACT This paper proposes a semi‐analytical method for estimating electric motor losses in the high‐speed synchronous reluctance machine with a continuously skewed axially laminated anisotropic (ALA) rotor. The method is based on a precomputed loss profile for the unskewed configuration, which is analytically extended to incorporate the effects of rotor skewing. To validate the proposed approach, a two‐stage comparison is performed: First, against a 2D sliced finite element model of rotor cross‐sections, and then against a complete 3D finite element model. The results show excellent agreement across all models, demonstrating the method ability to capture critical three‐dimensional effects with drastically reduced computational effort. The proposed technique provides a practical and efficient tool for the early‐stage design and optimisation of skewed reluctance machines, particularly in the context of high‐speed and additive‐manufactured applications.
