To integrate safety and reliability analysis with the design process of complex systems and to enhance the efficiency of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), an automated implementation method based on the SysML extension mechanism was developed within a Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) framework. Focusing on the propulsion system of a manned spacecraft, this study established both a system model under normal working conditions and a fault mode model of the propulsion system using SysML. A method for identifying faulty transmission paths based on the system model was proposed, and faulty transmission relationships were modelled using SysML. FMEA item models for the propulsion system were automatically generated by tracing the fault transmission paths. The results demonstrate that this method can effectively integrate fault analysis into the system design process, thereby providing a convenient and efficient analysis procedure.
