This study explores the adaptation of the Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI) to assess digital readiness within a tire manufacturing context. Traditionally applied at the national level, DESI is reinterpreted here to evaluate digital maturity at the Goodyear Amiens plant, which is currently undergoing a strategic reconfiguration. This reconfiguration includes a digitalization effort that triggered the development of this study. The assessment uses indicators tailored to industrial operations and draws on expert input and employee surveys to capture both infrastructure and workforce dimensions. The results reveal high digital engagement and advanced technology integration, although gaps still exist in digital skills development. The adapted framework provides a practical and replicable model for monitoring Industry 4.0 progress at the factory level, supporting strategic digital planning and continuous improvement. Based on the findings, recommendations have been proposed to strengthen employees’ digital capabilities.
