Involute tooth profile is used for conventional gears, and the pressure angles of 20 degrees are mainly used. Increase in the pressure angle provides the large tooth thickness and the improved strength. However, as the number of teeth for the involute gears becomes smaller, it causes the tooth undercut, the pointed tooth, and the low contact ratio. In this study, we designed and made small tooth of number gears with a high pressure angle as possible using profile shift tooth cutting. In addition, driving tests were accomplished using small tooth number gears with non-conventional tooth profile in the previous report, namely an inconvertibility cycloid gears, an involute-cycloid composite gears, a modified cycloid gears and an asymmetric involute gears with absorption gear testing machine. We measured root stress, transmission error, vibration acceleration, and noise. Then we discussed the performance of the small tooth number gears.
