This contextual database, Contextual Heterosexism Database – Phase 4 (CHD4), expands the collection of contextual data available to users of The National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health (Add Health) by providing state-level indicators linked to Wave 6 (data collected 2022-2025) . These measures were derived from multiple external sources, including the American Community Survey (ACS), election returns compiled by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Election Data and Science Lab, legal and policy measures from the Movement Advancement Project (MAP), public opinion measures from the Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI) American Values Atlas, the U.S. Religion Census, and representation data from the Victory Institute’s Out for America database. Together, these data sources provide indicators of social policies, social climate, and confounding factors related to the measurement of structural heterosexism.
