Carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP), which are widely used in the aerospace industry, experience strength degradation due to failure mechanisms such as interlaminar delamination and fiber breakage. One non-destructive testing method for CFRP is the DC potential difference method. However, conventional finite element method–based simulations require substantial computational resources, rendering large-scale analyses of CFRP structures with numerous carbon fibers impractical. In this study, we apply a relaxation method with lower computational cost to enable large-scale electric potential field analysis in CFRP under the assumption that current is applied in the through-thickness direction. The validity of the proposed approach is evaluated by comparing the results with those obtained from finite element analysis.
