This document is a letter report for the California State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) regarding the K2 powerline borehole project. The document combines the traditional transmittal letter along with the historic property inventory report as a single document for the K2 borehole project. The boreholes consist of 15 auger holes that will be used to determine soil characteristics for future pole installation associated with the K2 powerline. The report provides details about the activities that will be performed along with the location of each borehole. The base archaeologist reviewed the project and assessed the potential impact to all archaeological resources located within 1/4 mile of each borehole. The archaeologist delineated the Area of Potential Effect as a 25-foot buffer around each borehole and explained that the Area of Potential Effect is coterminous for this project. There are no archaeological resources within almost 300 feet of any borehole and therefore the archaeologist concluded that the project will not affect any resources. The letter seeks concurrence from the SHPO for the delineation of the APE and the determination of no historic properties affected is appropriate.
