After gaining a variety of experiences related to the Alternative ☆ Energy Contest and LOHAS engineering, I came up with the idea of challenging myself to use backcasting to show the direction (policies) that mechanical engineering should aim for, with regard to the idea that won the Technology and Society Department Excellent Exhibition Award (Alternative ☆ Energy Contest section). In this paper, I attempt to show the direction we should aim for using backcasting, based on the presentation poster for the idea "Light and Heat Combined Greenhouse," which was selected for the Excellent Exhibition Award at the 14th Alternative ☆ Energy Contest adopted as Interdisciplinary Initiative No. 12 in 2021. Some of the contents of this report have already been presented at Organized Session J201 of this conference in 2024.
