In this study, we propose an elastoplastic topology optimization for reducing residual stress in metal additive manufacturing. First, an elastoplastic analysis model based on the inherent strain method is presented to accurately simulate the residual stresses in the additive manufacturing process. Next, a minimum mean compliance problem that accounts for residual stresses is incorporated into the topology optimization framework. Finally, numerical examples are presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed topology optimization method.
