Various constitutive models for the irreversible deformation, i.e. the elastoplatic and the elasto-viscoplastic deformations, e.g. Chaboche model, the two surface model have been proposed in the history of the solid mechanics. Then, these models are installed in various commercial FEM software represented by Abaqus, Marc, LS-DYNA. However, they are incapable of describing the plastic strain rate in the unloading state and thus cannot be applied to the prediction of the cyclic loading behavior. On the other and, the subloading surface model is capable of describing the general cyclic loading behavior and further the elasto-viscoplastic deformation during the monotonic and the cyclic loadings. The physical and mathematical characteristics will be analyzed. Then, it is concluded that the mechanical design of machinery subjected to the cyclic loading must be performed by the subloading surface model.
