Deepwater offshore oil fields in Brazil produce heavy crude under high-salinity, CO2 (carbon dioxide)-rich conditions that create simultaneous corrosion and mineral scale risks. Limited subsea injection points necessitate multifunctional production chemicals capable of maintaining both integrity and flow assurance. This article1 describes the development, laboratory evaluation, and subsea qualification of MTDF-AA, a combined corrosion and scale inhibitor designed for multiphase subsea oil production systems. Corrosion performance was verified using high-pressure rotating cage autoclave testing, while scale inhibition was evaluated using dynamic scale loop methods. A comprehensive deepwater qualification program confirmed chemical cleanliness, stability, viscosity control, and deliverability. Results demonstrate that MTDF-A meets stringent subsea requirements and is suitable for deployment in offshore fields.
