On an unseasonally cold morning in Norwich, eight scientists walked into the John Innes Centre Conference Centre Auditorium and proceeded to collectively blow the minds of a room full of early-career researchers. The occasion was APH Day — A Celebration of Careers in Plant Health — a joint initiative of the John Innes Centre and The Sainsbury Laboratory funded by the BBSRC. The event was opened — and closed — by Mark Banfield, APH ISP Lead, who set the tone perfectly: plant health isn’t just a research discipline. It’s a career ecosystem.
