Abstract: Poetics of Cognition draws on research in psychology and brain science to account for the potential benefits of reading difficult poetry in the modernist or, more precisely, the postmodernist vein often referred to as experimental, avant garde, or innovative. The study deftly achieves its purpose to explain the mental mechanism by which this kind of poetry works and to establish with data-driven research the salubrious benefits of reading such challenging texts.
