AbstractArisaema jacquemontii (Himalayan Cobra Lily) is a traditionally used medicinal herb belonging to the family Araceae. The phytochemical composition and bioactivities of A. jacquemontii tuber extracts were evaluated with the methanolic extract showing the highest levels of phenolics (113.70 ± 0.60 mg GAE/g) and flavonoids (71.64 ± 0.93 mg QE/g). These correlated with strong antioxidant activity (DPPH IC50: 110.26 ± 0.95 µg/mL; FRAP: 1021.04 ± 0.23 µM Fe2+ eq./g; metal ion chelation: 78.15 ± 0.89%). Significant antibacterial effects were observed, against Bacillus subtilis and Klebsiella pneumoniae. GC-MS analysis identified 22 compounds including long-chain alkanes, fatty acid esters and phytosterols. The methanolic extract also demonstrated potent cytotoxicity against MCF-7 breast cancer cells (IC50: 30.33 ± 1.09 µg/mL), supporting its potential as a promising source of natural therapeutic agent.
