By direct numerical solution of the Schrödinger equation for spins system we study free induction decay (FID) of diamagnetic nanospheres modified by deposition of atoms with non-zero magnetic moments. Simulations show that 10–14 interacting spins on the sphere is enough to describe FID and characteristic relaxation time reasonably well. We also compare the quantum spins description of FID with a phenomenological moment theory approach.
